David Fergusson leads the M&A team for the Eastern North American and Mid-Atlantic region from the Company’s  New York office. He has over 35 years of experience in the creation of businesses, the acceleration of corporate growth and global mergers and acquisitions. In addition to heading the Technology M&A Practice, he also leads the cross border international M&A initiatives. 

Prior to joining Generational Equity, he was the Chairman and Co-CEO of The M&A Advisor. From the firm’s offices in New York and London, he was responsible for leading the global think tank services: market intelligence publishing, media, event and consulting, for their constituency of over 350,000 corporate finance industry professionals. 

Mr. Fergusson is a respected speaker on the subjects of financial services, corporate transformation and social innovation at prominent educational institutions including Harvard and Cambridge and leadership assemblies including the Vatican, World Economic Forum at Davos, World Bank and the International Monetary Fund; and a contributor to major media organizations including CBS, BBC, NPR, ABC, CNBC, and Bloomberg. He is the editor of 5 annual editions of the mergers and acquisitions handbook - “The Best Practices of The Best Dealmakers” series with a readership of more than 500,000 in over 60 countries. Mr. Fergusson is also co-author of the bestselling technology book “The transHuman Code”.

As a partner in cross border investment firm Paradigm Capital Management, Mr. Fergusson conducted over 25 acquisitions as an investor and, as an M&A advisor, he has managed over 250 transactions. A pioneer in cross border mergers and acquisitions, between the United States and China, he was recognized with the 2017 M&A Leadership Award and the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award from the China Mergers & Acquisitions Association. In addition, he is the recipient of the Investment Banker of Year for 2023, awarded by the Global M&A Network.

Recipient of the 2015 Albert Schweitzer Leadership Award for his work in global youth leadership development, Mr. Fergusson is the former President of Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership (HOBY), the world’s largest social leadership philanthropic foundation for high school students. Mr. Fergusson is Canadian and a graduate of Kings Edgehill School and The University of Guelph.
