Generational Group, a leading mergers and acquisitions advisor for privately held businesses, is pleased to announce the sale of its client Authentic Drilling, Inc. to Specialty Drilling Holding Company LLC, a portfolio company of Kalbot Holding Company LLC. The transaction closed August 31, 2023.

Authentic Drilling (Authentic) is a leading multi-regional provider of difficult access geotechnical, environmental, exploration, and water well drilling services. Located in Colorado and offering services in multiple states across the Southwestern, Western, and Northwestern U.S., Authentic serves diverse end markets spanning water, renewable energy, mining exploration, as well as land, water, and over-water infrastructure. Over its history, Authentic has become recognized for: unparalleled difficult access drilling capabilities; a highly skilled and experienced workforce; and the region’s newest and most diversified fleet of state-of-the-art drilling and support equipment.

Kalbot Holding Company (Kalbot) is a private investment firm that invests in lower-middle-market industrial businesses, with a primary focus on the Environmental Services and Industrial Services sectors. Kalbot seeks to identify and acquire proven businesses within its core sectors that have a well-established reputation, consistent customer relationships, and demonstrated growth potential.

Specialty Drilling Holding Company is a platform company that was formed by Kalbot in 2022 to invest in Western U.S.-based companies that offer highly specialized drilling and related services for geotechnical, environmental, and other applications, with a primary focus on the development, maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of critical land, water, over-water, and subsurface infrastructure.

Generational Group Executive Managing Director of M&A – Western Region, Stephen Crisham, and his team, led by Sr. Managing Director Mergers & Acquisitions, Fred Zweifel, with support from Sr. Managing Director – Western Region, Lori Galloway, closed the deal. Senior Managing Director Doug Morrow established the initial relationship with Authentic.
