Generational Group Advises Polymer Solutions in Sale to SGS North America

Generational Group, a leading mergers and acquisitions advisor for privately held businesses, is pleased to announce the sale of its client, Polymer Solutions Inc., to SGS North America Inc. The acquisition closed May 31, 2018.
Polymer Solutions, based in Christiansburg, Virginia, is an independent materials testing lab and strategic resource for the testing of polymers, plastics, metals, gases and more.
The company has more than 25 years of expertise solving and preventing complex problems for companies in the medical, pharmaceutical, packaging, aerospace, defense and manufacturing industries.
“The acquisition provides a pathway for the sustained future growth of our staff and the business, and larger financial support for the company,” said Polymer Solutions Founder Jim Rancourt.
Rancourt will remain with the company, which will now be called SGS – Polymer Solutions Inc., as Technical Director, and former Polymer Solutions CEO Cynthia Rancourt is now General Manager.
SGS North America, based in Fairfield, New Jersey, is the nation’s leading provider of inspection, testing, verification and certification services, helping clients in virtually every sector to reduce risk and improve productivity. It is a member of the SGS Group, the world’s largest certification and inspection company, represented in more than 130 countries by 210 affiliated companies.
“This acquisition strategically enhances our global platform of materials science and testing laboratories within our industrial offer, and will support the further expansion of added value services to our customers and core industries,” said SGS CEO Frankie Ng.
Generational Group Senior Managing Director, Doug Morrow established the initial relationship with Polymer Solutions. Senior Managing Director of M&A, Fred Zweifel successfully closed the deal.
